BAD: Two seventh graders expelled for playing with toy guns on private property

Students Suspended For Playing With Pellet Gun in Own Front Yard, One Mother Called Because It Made Her ?Uncomfortable? to See a Boy Point a Gun She Knew Wasn?t Real - Hit & Run : Reason.com

Like thousands of others in Hampton Roads, Khalid Caraballo plays with airsoft guns. Caraballo and his friend Aidan were suspended because they shot two other friends who were with them while playing with the guns as they waited for the school bus.

The two seventh graders say they never went to the bus stop; they fired the airsoft guns while on Caraballo's private property.
That's overreaching plain and simple. That [nice lady] that called 911 should be arrested. She admittedly knew they were playing with toy guns and shooting "Zombies" with a net behind the targets. An activity on somebody's private property that makes her "uncomfortable" is not a reason for calling 911! Talk to the parents or HOA. How or why the school got involved and how these boys were expelled, I have absolutely now idea. As far as I can tell, the kids were playing responsibly with age-appropriate spring airsoft guns on private property. The parents should lawyer up.

An update, the kids were both expelled.

The school administrators should be fired for "lack of common sense". The lady who called 911 should be fined for making an erronious emergency phone call. Plain and simple. This do gooder busy body zero tolerance crap has to stop.
No trees were harmed in the construction of this post. However a large number of electrons were indiscriminately aroused.
