Bad: Teen killed in Fayetteville police officer involved shooting Sunday

This happened about a mile from my house last night. I hope this doesn't turn into another Trayvon Martin incident, and the kid really was armed. I don't know what is going on in my local community, but I have seen quite a few LE involved shootings in Fayetteville in the last few years. Come on Army move me someplace nice. The Florida Keys sound like a good place.

    From the article:

Marciea Alford, McNair's aunt, said the officer should have called for backup.

"The policeman was trying to be a hero and take care of matters on his own that is not protocol for a policeman," she said.

If the story is true as reported, maybe your nephew not pulling a gun on a policeman would have been a better idea...

Saw this on the news last night, first off what is a 16 year old doing carrying a gun?

Medlock said the teen pulled up his shirt, showing a weapon. The young man began to draw the handgun out, and Hunt fired at least three rounds, striking the teenager, he said.
From WRAL. Teen shot, killed by Fayetteville police officer responding to domestic dispute :: WRAL.com

Detectives said they recovered a handgun from the scene that was reported stolen out of South Carolina in February 2012. The State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate, which is a standard practice whenever a law enforcement officer is involved in a shooting.
"We want a full scale investigation of what happened to him" said Robert Alford, McNair's uncle. "My understanding was that the young gentleman was shot senselessly. He was unarmed. He was down on the ground. He was shot three times."

Alford said the family plans to contact the NAACP.
Unarmed, I don't think so. I am certain it will be investigated and Officer Christopher Hunt exonerated for defending himself.

Alford described McNair as a mild-mannered teen who never had problems with the law.
Yep, heard that one many times.

I feel bad for the parents, but if they had been better parents and known what their kid was doing and did something about it, maybe he would be alive today. I have some pretty good kids but I know where they are and what they are doing at ALL times. Why? Because it is my frickin' job.

Talk about a biased bunch of witnesses. Sounds like the officer had a really bad day.

It amazes me how in these situations the person being attacked is expected to know the exact age, family background, and behavioral history of their attacker. Those factors would ALWAYS sway the person being attacked from properly defending them self.

Somebody got to pay the price for being stupid. The ONLY person I feel bad for here is the officer. Lots of people have a rough time after having to shoot a kid.

The Pope himself would have been shot had he brandished a firearm in that situation.

Seems to me that the woman who attacked the Officer while he was trying to place her son in the Police car is the one that caused the death of the young man that pulled the gun on the Police officer.
