Good: Woman with an M&P affirms she is not ready to meet God

Woman pulls gun on Milwaukie neighborhood intruder - KPTV - FOX 12

Milwaukie, Oregon. A suspect followed a local woman up a set of stairs and into her apartment.

The woman asked the suspect what he wanted and he said, "Are you ready to meet God?"

At that point, the woman said she ran to her bedroom to get her gun, but the suspect left.

Strange way to waste time debating with a (potentially) violent felon in one's home. Can't say as I'd leave much room for debate, myself, no matter the topic.

Ironically, the invader appears to have been a God-fearing man.

Police said they found the man hiding in the neighborhood. They took him to a Portland-area hospital for a mental health evaluation.
Sounds like a good call to me. Something definitely seems off about this character.

Well, that changes everything. He was just a misunderstood evangelist, not a criminal.

That nice pistol in the bedroom wouldn't have done much good it the suspect were violent. Hopefully it was a wake up call for the lady who should at least get some defense spray for her keychain, if not a CHL. We are Shall Issue here in Oregon.

!. She should have had her firearm on her person.
    2. She should have had the SA to know he was following her up the stairs.
    3. When asked if she was ready to meet God, her response, as she pulled out her firearm (and assuming she felt a serious threat), "No, but I can arrange a meeting between YOU and God if you would like!"

My question is how did he follow her into her apartment?Sounds like she didn't lock the door behind her,had he been a violent Rapist Murderer theres a good chance she may have never had the opportunity to get her gun

Some things can surely help guard against such risk ...

    • Be armed. Can't very well use what you don't have with you.

    • Be aware. Monitor the approach lanes, including at the "six."

    • Be cautious, particularly when heading into darker/lonelier passages, stairs, parking lots.

    • Avoid going heads-down; keep the head on a swivel.

    • Take proactive precautions to being followed, to keep options open with the potential assailant as far away as possible.

    • If seemingly being followed, change the tactics immediately to deal with it ... change direction, turn to face, be prepared to be attacked, whatever.

    • Lock/bar the doors as normal; don't presume someone won't walk right in, if able to.

    • Do not be far away from weapons, even in the home. Sometimes, all that's between you and "lights out" is a swift kick to the door.
