G-d, Make me fast and accurate. Let my aim be true and my hand faster than those who would seek to destroy me. And G-d if today is truly the day you call me home, then let me die in a pile of empty brass.

Sounds like they mainly fired him because they didn't want him sitting down in the photo lab. What?

I guess it depends on what the guys job description was. If he was required to be walking the store or near the front register area then I think it's perfectly in their right to fire him for not doing the tasks expected of him.

If he was there in uniform, it was to serve as a deterrent to stuff like this - can't accomplish that at the back of the store.

The guy was a "SECURITY GUARD" at WALGREENS and let them get robbed so he could sit, not to mention firing his sidearm before acquiring the subject with his sights.

Who cares what other job he had. Perhaps the cashier should have called 911.

There's never a cop around when you need one. He deserved to be fired from that tiny jurisdiction.

I'd be questioning why he confronts an armed robber and the guy is able to get off 2 rounds and apparently the Officer never returns fire,This guys training sucks If he was there as armed Security.
Sounds like he was there to make easy money sitting on his ass instead of observing any threats coming in the door including potential shoplifting

Why would they not fire him?

Lots of news sources only leave a story up for a short time, then archive it.

He was fired for not doing his job. Being at the back on the store sitting on your #$@ is not the way you preform security. He was not fired for defending the store, he was fired because he was lazy. Everyone that uses a gun is not a good person.

One less person in line in front of me then.

If the off duty officer had been doing what he was hired to do, where is suppose to be, he's still have his job.

Don't loose it too much or you'll have to tighten it back.

Walgreens lost my business a long time ago. But in this particular case I can't say I blame them.

Walgreens lost my business a while back when they fired a pharmacist who defended himself and his customers with his own firearm against an armed robber! I spent most of my money at CVS anyway, and only went to Walgreens occasionally. Since they fired that pharmacist, I have not been back to a Walgreens.
