Bad: Texas dad shoots daughters' boyfriend

Long story short, around 2AM dad finds out someone is in bed with his daughter. Daughter denies knowing said person, who refuses to comply with father. Father shoots him. Daughter later admits she knows him.

Houston dad shoots, kills boy found inside daughter?s bedroom | Fox News

Daughters' fear of punishment has cost her BF his life, and maybe her father his freedom. Certainly a traumatic experience for all involved.

That is really said. Like Blitzburg said, lies have real consequences. If someone had "broken" into my daughter's bedroom and then I saw him "reach for something", I could only assume he was there to do her harm and might be reaching for a gun or a knife or some other weapon. In that situation, I'd probably have shot him too! I would imagine if she had just 'fessed up and said she knew him, the father might have beat his butt a bit, but I doubt he would have shot him thinking he was there to harm his daughter and was reaching for a "weapon" to harm him.

Wow.. that sucks.. How stupid do you have to be, to be confronted in your GF's bedroom by her armed father and refuse not to follow his commands..

    tragic for everyone involved

I can't tell you what I would have done if I was in the father's shoes, but I would have been highly pissed and might have taken the same action depending on the circumstances. This sounds like a very sad situation all around. Just reinforces my belief that people need to be held accountable for their actions... The daughter lied, and it cost someone their life.

If the daughter would have just told the truth, the guy would probably still be alive and the father might only be facing an assault charge right now. If there's ever a time to tell the truth, it's when your dad has a gun pointed at your lover and is under the impression he's an intruder.

ETA: And, if the guy would have followed the dad's orders. All else aside, he was a fool for not doing so, especially when the daughter is denying knowing you, you're in her bedroom, and dad has a gun on you...

    I suspect someone actually did.

Very very sad. Sounds like a somewhat naïve dad that maybe doesn't know his daughter very well. Still in the fog of night I can see how it could happen.

Assuming that what the father said was accurate, I feel pretty bad for him. But there's usually more to the story, so who knows...

One of my greatest fears is being surprised by one of my kids friends in the house unescorted late at night.

A truly horrible story - I really feel for the father.

I can tell you what I would do because that same thing happened to me only I was not armed. Late at night when all were in bed I heard a male voice talking in whispered tones. Knowing I was the only male among five females, I got up to look. I listened at the door of my daughter's bedroom and that was where the voice came from along with hers. I opened up the bedroom door and saw them under the covers and yelled "what the h... is going on". My daughter threw back the covers and said they were completely dressed. They were, but I told her and him I didn't care how dressed they were, he's got thirty seconds to get out. I think he did it in ten seconds.

There was a situation where, even armed, I would not have fired the gun because an attempted attack on my daughter just would not have added up.

If the news report is accurate dad should not be facing any charges. Daughter might though.
