Or maybe he was a robber but the clerk "jumped the gun"? (Bad pun intended)

Come into MY shop with a mask on, you're gonna get a BIG surprise! I'm taking NO CHANCES!..........YOUR Fate is in MY hands..........Funny thing, the report didn't say if the Masked man didn't have a gun/knife/club in his posession. Just the report of a Clerk taking a shot at a "man who forgot to remove his ski mask. How quaint.

Of course the customer didn't file charges The cops might have noticed HIS gun.

April 29th is the date of publication. Was Ohio in the midst of a major winter storm or freeze? Me thinks the clerk was guilty of a preemptive strike against the "enemy". Ski mask out for a bike ride, Riiiiight.

Don't blame him for pulling a gun, but, once again, warning shots are a bad idea. Glad the mask wearer was understanding about the incident.

Uhhh, I live about 60 miles from Columbus and our weather is just about the same. I saw the picture of the individual, and believe me, even riding a bicycle, he was "over dressed" for the temperature! I am not exactly a "betting" man, but in this case, I'd almost be willing to bet that the clerk executed a "pre-emptive" strike against an individual who had full intentions of robbing the place!!! Either that, or the individual is "mentally challenged"! Normal people don't walk around wearing ski masks unless it is WINTER and COLD or they intend to conceal their identities for some "reason"!!! I do not condone what the clerk did, but I do think he was spot on in thinking he was about to be robbed!

It has been pretty cold at night recently in that area. Especially if it was a motorcycle and not just a bike (and that wasn't actually specified), I can understand wearing a mask while riding. But, seriously, how do you forget it's on your face??????

Most people are smart enough to remove a ski mask before walking into a convenience store. Just saying.

I once walked into a Local Convienence Store I frequent often with my Motorcycle Helmet on and I fogot to raise the Visor.
The Regular Employees know me, my helmet and bike and don't think anything of it. But this day they had a New Girl Behind the Register and when she saw me walk straight from the front door to the Counter and reach into my pocket she dropped to the floor and grabbed a shotgun under the counter. When she came up she was swinging the barrel at me and her training clerk jumped at her and grabbed the shotgun away from her. All the other customers hit the floor! I slowly removed my hand from my pocket and raised the face shield so she could see my face. Then I grinned at her real big and said something like "Great Reflexes"! She was shaking and in a firm voice told me to never wear my helmet into the store like that again.

She didn't last long there and moved on to a safer environment.

I don't walk into the store anymore with my face shield down on my helmet and never reach in my pocket until I tell the Cashiers what I came in to buy. Usally Pizza and Lottery Tickets.

Makes me wonder if Ski Mask Boy had to change his drawers?

Visor up or not, I would recommend you not enter any store wearing a motorcycle helmet. Just my .02.

In the case of this story I side with the clerk and ski mask boy should consider himself lucky to be alive. If the clerk had just plain shot him where he stood it would have been justified IMO.

I am one of those people. I am at least that smart.

It would have to be 30 Below or more before I would walk in as a regular man. Just the same inbound I would lighten up. At no time would my demeanor say I am a bad guy. Far from it.
