I had read the ''dressed up'' version a good ways back but seemingly the core material is accurate.

The article makes some useful corrections but bottom line - the guy was several sandwiches short of a perfect picnic. Done deal!

I remember reading this a few years ago. I didn't believe it then. I guess the core facts are true.

This guy had to be drunk or tryind to commit suicide. Just goes to show how people embellish a story.

I read something like that a couple years ago, not that story though, because it took place a couple years ago, but yeah hehe... definite candidate for the darwin awards to rob a gun shop... any gun shop I've been to every employee there had a sidearm.

I remember that being reported in the news a long time back (any gun related thing gets reported in the anti city of Seattle) But the hyped up version is much better then the truth. Who knows it might have been reported that way in one of the anti-papers to make it look like the OK corral.

A similar incident happened a few years back at the shop I use for their range - also where I took my CCW class. This was "Guns and Leather" in Greenbriar, TN for anyone wanting more info.

I asked the owner about it the morning I took his class all he said was the guy started waving his gun around and fired off a few shots (he was dealt with promptly and accordingly btw). The owner and all employees carry openly as well as several LEOs that use his range and many of his customers are regulars who CCW.

What can you say? It takes a special kind of stupid ...

This story was told me by someone who was there: A number of years back two guys went in to rob a local "Red Neck" bar one guy with a hand gun and one with a pump shot gun. About 30 people were there for the evening when the duo stormed in, and after firring a shot in the air announce "This is a hold up put your wallets and purses on the tables!" Where as all they heard was the click, click, clack, looking around the BG quickly realized that virtually every one the the place was carrying and had drawn down on the pair, including the bar keep with his own 12 GA. The next response was "OH **** I think well leave now" and did.

I think BG's sometimes forget there are CCW's dotted around!!

This Video is funny - obviously contrived and not new either but - tickles me! Only 1.3 Mb

I should think Crossfire would have been an issue. Personally I would like to see a diagram of what the shop looked like. You cant really get a “feel” for the story unless you know how far away the combatants were, how many obstacles were involved, and how many patrons were in the store at the time.

I doubt any patron fired with the presence of the officer and the assistance of the clerk. After all, who wants to have their gun taken away, or have it on record that they were involved in a shooting, when they didn’t have to. Personally I would have also had a firearm drawn but would hold fire until it appeared the officer or clerk were in need of assistance. Considering there were 4 rounds in the “suspect”, 0 rounds in the officer, 0 rounds in the clerk or patrons, I would say they handled the situation fantastically.

One less idiot out there. Just be careful of the other 3 million+ still out there.
