Pacification at the sight of a gun (last nights bizarre event)
It's about....9:30 or so in the evening. My friend and I are in his 2006 Impreza STi. This may or may not be important to the chain of events, but for those who aren't familiar, this is a very fast sports car being driven by a 21 year old. I drive a tiny little pickup, so I enjoy riding with him. ANYWAYS. We were searching for a way to get cash-the nearest Wells Fargo ATM being a few miles away- This means we were convenience store shopping, buying packs of gum and getting $10 back on debit. Then plan was to go get dinner and perhaps play a little black jack later in the evening.
We pull out of one of the shell stations, BS-ing and listening to the radio, and a red F150 pulled up on my side (passenger) He rolled down his window like he wanted to talk. I was wondering if the guy knew me, so I rolled down my window to say "hey" At the time I started to talk, the light turned green. My buddy driving didn't realize there was a truck next to us, nor did he realize that I had my window down. At the same time we started moving, F150 guy yelled something at us. I barely heard it, and my buddy barely heard it. I thought I was being called a ***** for some reason, and my buddy swore he heard "caught it a little close back there" We were both trying to figure out if perhaps we had cut this guy off accidentally.
We're driving up the road, and this guy is now right behind us, tail gaiting us and generally making us both very uncomfortable. We continued up the road, and finally the truck just turned off. We pulled into another gas station, and out of nowhere (it was really weird) this F150 pulls up right beside us again. "oh ****" This fellow and his passenger get out of their truck, march over to my window again with hate in their eyes. Guy looks in the car, sees my 9mm on my lap in my hand, and says "sorry, my mistake" and books it out of there. I have no idea what their intentions were, and I was in no mood to get beaten up while my friend was in a convenience store. We called the police, plate description, yada yada, and that was the end of it.
Weird.

Hey Nick, No shots fired, no extra holes in you and your buddy, I'd say it ended well.
You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.

Funny how that will back a fella down.
Glad you both are safe.

Glad to hear everything turned out okay....there are some real nut-jobs in Reno.
Good luck.

Everyone's a tough guy until he's not. The appropriate realization of that "truism" may have saved that guys life.
Glad it all ended well.

You were right to call the cops immediately. A lot of these jackasses will call the cops and register their "moral superiority".
I hate that you have to do it, but your options become limited when you're sitting in jail.

He was right on about calling the cops. that was a wise decision. you covered your ass. We had a paramedic killed here by a wack job. The wack job followed him into a seven eleven store and shot the paramedic at close range killing him. This Happened because the wack job though the victim cut him off. you never know itcould be you..

Good job...but why didn't your friend use the STI to his advantage...and just blip the throttle and lose the truck instead of letting him tailgate.
I had something similar happen to me a while back. Two cars tried to box me in. Nitrous works wonders until you hit traffic. The sight of a Glock 30 being chambered worked even better to have people rapidly lose interest in their current course of action. I spent the next few days wondering every time I saw a cop car if they were after me because I DIDN'T call the cops and report what happened

The only bad thing about the situation is, the guy found out you were armed. He could have went back to his vehicle and came out with his own weapon and just opened up on you/your vehicle.
Just something to think about.

A loud exhaust and a good blow off valve should help "plow the road"

Glad it turned out o.k. , trying to out run someone is a bad move, unless most other options fail. Too easy to crash into a third party.
