Neighbor claiming self-defense in slaying in Las Vegas home

A woman is dead after a neighbor let her in his Las Vegas apartment and shot her dead when she grabbed a knife.

Police say it appears to be a case of self-defense. They say the woman appeared deranged as she went door-to-door about 9:20 PM Wednesday night in a complex in the city's northwest.

The neighbor let the woman in his apartment and tells police he tried to help, but she wasn't making any sense. He says she threatened him with a knife, and that's when he shot her dead.

It seems the bad news cycles through the country with NV getting some right now. It is a tough call to help someone who may be deranged or seems out of sorts with themselves and wind up dead yourself.
