I half expected that story to end with the two guys being held at the muzzle of a Walther PPK . . . I kinda like the shotgun version better, anyway, this taking place out in the country an' all . . .
Great job! I'm proud of you!

It was well said earlier: I am glad I came upon this thread now so I didn't have to wait through the nail-biter intermissions! Thanks for the excellent writing and recounting of the experience.

Just found this thread today...
What a well-written story! It was great to read through the whole thing.
Thanks for sharing...actually, you could have made it one loooong thread, but it would have kept me reading...

I see your point and agree, though I didn't own a PPK at that time.
After checking my house with the shotgun, I put it back in my pickup, but didn't store it in the case behind the seat as usual. I just put it muzzle down, on the passenger side floorboard and seat to save time, plus having it ready for the very slight chance that I might need it quickly. As it turned out, having it ready like that was a significant factor in the unanticipated encounter with those two guys.
I think that the fact that it was more menacing-looking than a .380 pistol helped me dominate the situation plus motivated those guys to be compliant, which prevented the situation from escalating. I really like my new PPK, but that short-barreled 12 gauge quickly got their full attention.

Yes, sir, we know that. That's why he's no longer with us.
