One more positive example of responsible firearm ownership. It sure would have been cool to get a picture of the BG's faces looking down the barrel of that rifle!

When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.

I wonder what type of rifle?

Glad it ended well for the homeowner, but I never want to be the one saying this:
So I got my cellphone and went into my bedroom and loaded my rifle."
    That's why mine stay LOADED!

In England this guy would have been beaten, stomped, or even killed and had his cell phone stolen as 911 would be listening in advising he not fear and give in to his attackers demands & whim.
Oh and if he'd have the nerve to try to fight and strike back he'd be brought up on charges for assault.

    God bless America!

love success stories. i wonder why they never make mainstream media?
War is not the ugliest of things. Worse is the decayed state of moral feeling which thinks nothing is worth a war. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which he cares for more than his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free. -J.S. Mill

An excellant end! I'm surprised the home-owner had time to go from the bathroom to wherever he kept his rifle, load it, call 911, and go back to the front door to take up a defensive position, all while the BG's were beating down the door. Guess they were either really wimpy BG's or he had a stubborn door.

Wherever possible, I'm a big fan of steel door-frames with top and bottom deadbolts. It might just give you that extra 10 seconds you need to save your life.

yeah, the "loading my gun" part bugs me to.

Unless i'm training/practicing, they are loaded and rdy to go.

thx for the ideas on the door security. I'm going to be moving into a new home in this next month. i'll be setting up those doors for sure.

Now, this is a good quote to end a story with - and so true.
