But I'm sure that young James was a good boy... "always there to help people, and make you laugh with his sense of humor. He was trying to turn his life around. He was a good student, and was seeking his GED. Used to buy his little cousins candy."
Frankly, I'm surprised that the news isn't reporting this as "a carjacking gone wrong" (as they commonly do) -- as though it's a carjacking "gone right" when the badguys successfully deprive a law-abider of his property and don't get shot.

Man about town...
"He was trying to turn his life around. He was a good student, and was seeking his GED."
He wanted to be an airline pilot or brain surgeon. A young life snuffed out so soon.
A friend of mine at works know's the Gentlman involved in the shooting. He had just had dinner at Greek Town casino, his friend who was in the passengers seat also happend to be his Attorney. Shot the bad guy 8 times. 15 witnesses and all caught on camera, it was a good shoot. He spent about an hour at the police station and was released.
How good can it get? Oh that any of us should be that fortunate, if in extremis.his friend who was in the passengers seat also happend to be his Attorney. Shot the bad guy 8 times. 15 witnesses and all caught on camera

8 rounds. Sounds like he had a 1911 and shot the gun to slide lock. Wonder if he executed a magazine change?

Opinions expressed here are based upon Michigan state law ONLY. Other state laws may differ. Know and observe your local laws.
I don't think he executed a mag change; I bet he kept pulling the trigger a few times before realizing he could stop. But who knows; I certainly wasn't there.
Anti-gunners seem to believe that if we just pass enough laws, we can have utopia. Unfortunately, utopia is NOT one of our choices.
The building that the Greektown Casino is in is actually very large and does not include only the casino. There are several shops that are in no way affiliated with it including a couple restaurants.
That having been said, might be a little dicey from a legal standpoint. I can say that even IF the rest of the building may be considered off limits, the police didn't seem to mind or notice. I'm pretty sure this guy is thankful for the loose interpretation of the law.
Another reason why "Pistol Free Zones" are generally pointless. Maybe the aggressor made the same faulty assumption. How's that for poetic justice? Criminals think guy is easy prey because he's leaving the casino area and assumes the victim is unarmed as a result.
