Proof that you Are Not Protected by the Police
Notice that this happened in front of Detroit Police Headquarters.
I have absolute respect for police officers, but they don't have to be very far away to be ineffective. Thank God for Michigan's Concealed Carry laws. With my job, home, and social activities, this could have been me.

Detroit police are investigating an attempted carjacking in front of the department's headquarters on Beaubien in which the would-be victim opened fire on a gunman, killing him.
Three other suspects, all 18 or younger, were in custody Friday.
Investigators identified the dead man as 18-year-old Michael Evans from Detroit.
Police said the incident occurred around 11 p.m. Thursday in a parking lot across the street from the 1300 Beaubien building.
Four assailants approached the 36-year-old victim from Troy, who had just gotten into his car after a dinner out with a friend.
When Evans brandished a gun, police said, the Troy man fired several shots with a handgun in apparent self-defense.
Officers inside police headquarters heard the shots and caught the three other suspects.
The Troy man, whose identity was not released, had a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Police said he would not be charged with a crime if his story checks out.
Michigan state law says residents may use deadly force if they are not committing a crime and believe they are facing death or great bodily harm.

Unless you carry a cop on your back, by definition they cannot be right there on demand. It's not possible and should not be expected. But then, we know that ... which is why we're all here. What's taking others so long to figure out is that, as professional and effective as police may be in their appointed tasks, there is no legal requirement that they (police) be everyone's personal, private bodyguards, 24x7. Someday, I hope folks will remove their heads from the sand and realize the full meaning of that.

It sure proves a point - one we all know of course.
If guy had been unarmed then he may well have finished up on the slab at the morgue.

It doesn't make the city of Detroit look so good, with an attempted carjacking in front of their police headquarters. Probably these were not the smartest badguys on the planet, either. Good Grief.

The Brady Bunch will list it as another child killed by a gun.
I like that they did not release the GG's name. He has enough on his plate emotionally without being hounded by the anti-gunners and press.

Unfortunately, a young lady found that out last week, not far from the same location. She was shot without warning by a carjacker. They caught her assailant today.

Sounds like a good shoot. I don't understand how you get a good shot on a BG that's holding a gun to your head without getting shot yourself, but it happens time and again. I suppose you play along 'til he is distracted. Then you draw and fire. Spooky.

One less BG, I love it when the right person wins.

Definitely a good shoot. Hopefully, there will be no further trouble for the GG.

I used to live near there...you wouldn't want the key to that corrupt, God-forsaken, crime-filled excuse for a city...BAD PLACE!
