I probably would have been rolling on the floor laughing when the guy, "screams as loud as he can, drives through the window and takes off running,”. Then I would have called LE.

    Talking

Well, technically he did not say that he was going to kill the guy.

He just told him that he was a dead man.

I think that he probably meant that he thought the burglar was a Grateful Dead fan.

He really said... "You're A Dead Fan?"

I bet he won't be broken into a 4th time after this story gets around !!!
Was he so afraid of the car he had to shoot it?? I say let the weapon do the talking inside the house. If the BG makes it outside, stop shooting and pick up the phone for police and an ambulance. Then exercise the right to remain silent. Won't be able to hear anyway

A "good shoot"?? Best case scenario a waste of ammo.
This guy may carry a gun but I doubt he's had any real training or given any serious thought as to how to handle himself in these types of situations.

    Just say no comment,
But face it, how many of us have had our homes broken into 3x in 3 months?

    Yeah.

    - He admits to saying that he threatened the guy's life.

    - He fired a gun inside the municipal limits.

    - He shot at a vehicle, but was not under deadly threat when he did so. (And what in the world did he shoot the car for?)

I think he should have simply shot the intruder, no warning, no "Dirty Harry" vocalizations

... and most importantly, NO FREAKIN' COMMENT TO THE MEDIA!!

Obviously, this guy doesn't read DC with us!

In PA that would be an absolute No~Go shooting at a fleeing BG.

In Texas it probably would have been just fine.

Laws vary widely from state to state.
Learn your state laws concerning what would be a good shoot as VS a bad one in your home state.
If you are traveling legally armed into another state/states you'll need to brush up on their state laws also.

Yep, dumb move, he better hope it doesn't come back to bite him. Letting your bravado overide your intellect is always a bad plan.

    Reporters

    When you see a reporter, shut-up, shut-up, shut-up.

he probably recently bought a gun because of the break ins.i doubt he has much experience w/concealed carry people and our thoughts.of course you should always think twice when talking to reporters, especially about something this potentially serious.

When the media shows up your best response is "no comment".

I'm still trying to figure out when he shot at the bad guy? Everyone is saying he shot at him while he was fleeing? I don't see that in the story?

I see he where he shot the bad guys car - (bad move!) But other than that I can't find anything where he tried to harm the BG?
I wear a seatbelt, but I hope to never need it, I use smoke detectors in my house, but I hope to never need them, I carry life insurance, but I hope to never need it, I carry a weapon, but I hope to never need it.
