the article isn't updated with the latest info.....

Guy goes to home of his EX wife and her new man, the ex-husband and the new man get in a fight in the house and ex-husband gets shot, dies at the hospital.

How many times has this story been played out? How many MORE times will this story be played out?

I imagine the grand jury will just be a formality. If the prosecutor isn't charging him now I don't expect he will make much of an effort to indict, unless some evidence comes to light that radically changes things.

I've been to at least two of these that were no-billed, and in those cases the "ex" who came calling wasn't even armed (but started a fight and/or forced entry into a dark home). How much proof do people need that if you go looking for trouble, you are liable to FIND it...in spades.

Isn't this why we carry. So that stories play out like the story above did.

Better the bad guy get shot first than for the story to end up like this.

Yeah, but I never cease to marvel at the lack of good sense some troublemakers show. My information so far is that these were not exactly the neighborhood criminal types involved in normal day to day thuggery. The other two times I was talking about were both over a female ex, too. I guess "mildly reactive" in a head-shaking way is a better description than surprised, really. After all, as we say at the end of every bloody, furniture stacking, drunken, DV/assault fight call, "Ain't love grand?"

    X marks the spot

Being an ex-husband and of course, having an ex-wife, there is a reason for the "x", it means STAY AWAY!

    got some "unofficial" info....

guy showed up, dragged the woman and said you're coming with me
the boyfriend told the guy to get the XXXX out 3 times including the phrase I have a gun
the 3rd time the BG said you'll have to use it
homeowner/boyfriend was assaulted before drawing and shooting the BG

I'm from Amarillo. Don't count on it even being presented to the grand jury. On the other hand, when it is a law officer shooting, it always is presented to the grand jury, mainly to let the public know that they are being on the up and up.
