Miami-Dade police Wednesday were investigating the death of an armed, ski-masked man who was shot by the owner of a South Miami-Dade grocery store, apparently while trying to rob the store.

It happened Tuesday evening. The would-be robber pointed the gun at the store clerk at Diaz Groceries at the corner of Southwest 268th Street and 135th Avenue, according to Miami Herald news partner WFOR-CBS4 The grocery store owner, who was nearby, pulled out a firearm and shot the man, according to police reports. The man died on his way to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Late Tuesday, homicide investigators remained on the scene interviewing witnesses.

    And the second one.

Masked gunman shot dead by store owner
For the second time in two days in South Florida, victims have opened fire on armed robbers. And both gunmen ended up dead.

In the latest incident overnight, a man sitting in a car alongside a woman was confronted by a man dressed all in black, wearing a ski mask and carrying a gun. He demanded money -- and to see the woman strip naked, Miami police said.

The man in the car, a security guard from a nearby Food Giant, pulled his own gun and exchanged gunfire with the man in the mask. The robber ran, threw his gun down in the mud and collapsed.

    The intended victims were unharmed.

    The would-be robber was dead.

The location of the shooting, 115 NE 78th St., is just outside a two-story brown apartment complex in the shadow of a 15-story condo rising at the northern edge of Little Haiti.

Just over a day earlier, a ski-masked man trying to rob Diaz Groceries in Naranja was shot dead by the owner

I hope this happens more often in more places. It is the best way to cut down on crime.

It's the best way of showing the benefits and logic of Concealed Carry.

A story I'd really like to hear is of a Brady Bunch official defending themself from a BG with a gun. Now that'd be great.

They should get cash rewards. Sure saved FL taxpayers a lot of money for court costs, public defenders and prison expenses.

The County or State needs to give these business owners and employees a large reward for saving the taxpayers so much money, with their Forward thinking, they knew they were going to be robbed and took measures to prevent the "attempted robbery".My hat is off to these upstanding citizens!

Most armed robbers want to get the deed done and get out of there. This guy wanted to hang around long enough for the lady to get naked?! I think most street thugs have peanuts for brains, but that one takes the cake. I hope he left no offspring to plague the next generation.
