    Pretty Fast Investigation

    http://www.myfoxorlando.com/myfox/pa...Y&pageId=3.2.1

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) -- The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting which happened around 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at Cypress Grove Park in Orlando.

The victim, Francis Singh, 36, is recovering at Orlando Regional Medical Center and is currently in stable condition.

Deputies say Singh and another man, identified as Devan Bascom, 37, began arguing with each other. During the argument, Singh produced a cricket bat and assaulted Bascom. Upon feeling threatened, Bascom defended himself with a small caliber semi-automatic handgun and shot Singh once in the abdomen.

No arrests have been made in the case, which has been filed with the State Attorney's Office. The investigation reveals that the shooting was in self defense.

Sometimes those pesky critters get so big that they have to be knocked unconscious before you can collect them for bait. A cricket bat is probably the tool of choice for that job.

Well, the bat wielder has certainly found himself in a sticky wicket now, hasn't he, chaps? Good show, cheerio, and all that....

Hefted a cricket bat once, and bet you could beat the stuffing out of someone in a hurry with it. Good call.

He produced a cricket bat? Was he carrying it concealed in his pants or something?

I have no doubt that one could do some damage with a cricket bat, its just the first time I've read about one being used this way.

Singh is a very common name in India, and they are still big cricketers... Mr. Bascom is lucky it wasn't this Singh: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navjot_Singh_Sidhu

(For those who don't want to check the link, the guy was an Indian cricket batsman and Member of Parliament who was convicted of manslaughter for beating a man to death over a parking spot dispute.)
