Homeowner trying to protect property fatally shoots suspect (TX)
ABC13 Eyewitness News ^ | 7/15/05
A west Houston homeowner says he did everything he could to scare off an intruder but in the end, he had to kill the man.
(7/15/05 - HOUSTON) — A homeowner shot and killed a man who tried to break into his west Houston home.
The man says he heard someone trying to force their way into the house on Bellewood at Wirt around 3:45am Friday.
The owner confronted the intruder and says he warned him to go away.
"The individual said, 'Hey, I've got a gun and I'm going to go get it.' Then the homeowner told him 'Hey, I've got a gun also just to let you know.' The individual reached into his vehicle and produced what appeared to be a weapon at that time the homeowner shot him," said Sgt. LA Flores with the Houston Police Department.
Houston police are investigating. The suspect was found dead at the front door.

When these stupid people begin to hold up cops on the street I know the country is going around the bend. We have to ask the bad guys; do you want to take a chance and hold up a cop who is trained, educated, carry's a gun and will pound the crap out of you with a stick or go for an easy target say a home owner who is trained, smart, armed with a firearm but does not have a stick? We need a nation wide certification program for badguys I am convinced of that.

It's a pity Darwin has to be summoned via good folks having to use their weapons - but hey - if BG's want to take the chance, I just hope the outcome is always as this one - GG=1, BG=0.

Not to mention those costly and lengthy appeals.
