Houston Mall Shooting
HOUSTON - A man shot his girlfriend and then killed himself as she was opening a lingerie store in a Houston mall Tuesday, police said.
The man apparently confronted the woman as she was opening the security gate over the store, said Houston Police Lt. Albert Mihalco. The store showed signs that the two struggled before the woman was shot in the head. The man apparently killed himself, Mihalco said.
The shooting was reported at 10 a.m., and most stores were still closed.
Mall employee Deborah White said she was about to raise the security gate that covered the Ashley Stewart store where she worked when a security guard ran down the mall corridors, pounding on gates and doors and telling everyone to evacuate.
"I just left my coat and got out," White said. About a dozen people left the mall with her, mostly store employees.
The Greenspoint Mall is located a few miles from George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Oh...The infamous "Gunspoint Mall" the home base for the gangs. Supposedly they cleaned this place up after a female Deputy Sheriff was kidnapped and killed at this Mall. Looks like all the "security" and "gun free zone signs" didn't quite work out as planned.
It is a shame that this happened and I feel sorry for the woman's family.

I work basically down the street from "Gunspoint" mall and we got an email telling everyone in the office about what was going on at that time. A co-worker and I went to lunch and we passed right by the mall and it seemed like every camera crew in Houston was there as well as 3 news choppers. The last time I was in the mall, about 5 months ago, I had gone there to try and find a book store or magazine stand and to get something to eat at the food court. I walked the whole mall and there wasn't any kind of bookstore at all but what there was were a whole bunch of stores catering to "gangsta" type clothing. I couldn't believe a mall wouldn't have at least some kind of literary outlet of some type but I guess that mall caters to a different type of customer. I did eat at the food court but I kept checking everyone and anything around me because it was just infested with thugs. They even have a Houston Police Department annex in the mall to help curb the crime. It's sad that a police station within a few hundred feet, at the most, can't even give pause to people who are out to do no good.

Sadly, that's not the best area of Houston. A terrible shame.
Just shows that the BG's will always have guns. Don't know if the mall is posted or not. Never been there.
