Something that just came to mind in regard to Taylor.
He is a person who had been convicted of a gun crime (brandishing) and was on parole. He couldn't have legally purchased nor possessed a firearm.
Assumedly his wife was clear and thus could have purchased and possessed but she would not have been able to keep/store as much in the same residence where he would be living.
For them the only choice was a bladed weapon, if not a good alert dog.
This is yet another reason why it pays to keep your nose clean.
Once your freedoms are removed or even reduced you then become all the better and easier prey for predators.
All he needed was a shotgun and one shell. :|
