Three killed at child's birthday party
03:19 PM EST on Monday, December 10, 2007
Associated Press & 13News
Three people died at a child's birthday party in Prince William County Virginia Sunday.
A disgruntled and intoxicated ex-boyfriend opened fire at the party, shooting five people, according to police. Three of the victims, all adults, died. No children were hurt in the shooting.
From Prince William Co. Police Dept.
Anastacio Sanchez-Miranda
The suspect, 39-year-old Anastacio Sanchez-Miranda, was arrested six hours later in Pennsylvania.
Prince William County police believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute, First Sgt. Kim Chinn said. She said the mother of Sanchez-Miranda's children was at the house but was not hurt.
The woman, who police believe was the intended target, had stayed overnight at the house with her three children after a birthday party for a 2-year-old, Chinn said.
Prince William County police identified the dead as Juan Manuel Guevara, 28; Rosario Europa, 24; and Gerardo Lopez-Garcia, 25. They said all three were residents of the house.
In addition, a 30-year-old man was in critical condition and an 18-year-old man was in stable condition, police said.
Five children, ranging in age from 2 to 7, were in the house at the time of the shooting but were not hurt, Chinn said.

Me. And my wife and Kids.
No matter where I am, not matter who else is there, I am armed. Period. If you don't like that, you better find some way to deal with it in your own head because you aren't going to persuade me any differently.

I agree. I will carry wherever, whenever, and however I can. There is absolutely no way to plan where or when you will be a victim. Just look at recent events. A mall, a youth ministry, a church, another mall (PA), a mall in VA, driving your car, eating at an Applebees.
Must I go on?
Those of us that are determined to believe that the world is blissfully safe should look around a bit more. There are wolves out there that will eat you alive if you gave them the chance. Don't be a sheeple, be a Sheepdog!

This is the third time this calendar year I've read of an attack going down at specifically a childs birthday party.

No place, no event is immune from crazyness and idiocy ....... I'd like to think so but that ain't the case.
Thus my carry is 16/7 - however ''safe'' I might feel.

Who needs a gun at a child's birthday party?
Anyone who wants a fighting chance at surviving something like this.
Churches, schools, parties, dining with friends, walking the dog, hiking, canoeing, bicycling, reading in the park, traveling on the bus, walking across the parking lot to/from work, sitting peacefully in your own living room, ...
Your best weapon is your brain. Don't leave home without it.
Thoughts: Justifiable self defense.
Explain: How does
disarming victims
reduce the number of victims?

Three individuals. Three different last names, all hispanic.
Was anyone who lived in that house a legal resident or the U.S.?
Of course, the fact that the news story does not refer to them as "undocumented workers" much less "illegal aliens" does not mean they were not. I also have no evidence that they were -- except a gut intuition.
In any case, they didn't deserve to be murdered by some psycho ex-boyfriend, but it would have been nice if someone had been able to defend them.
I wonder why they didn't just call 911...

Tangle, I am not sure that is the case. Over and over someone says "if only someone else had a gun........"
Well, if someone else did have a gun, they still wouldn't have stopped it necessarily, maybe lessened the chances of any other innocents being killed, but I do not believe that it would have stopped it all from happening.
It will always be a reaction!
