Yet another mass shooting - Las Vegas bus stop shooting

LAS VEGAS - Six young people were shot Tuesday after they got off a school bus that left a high school, and two were critically hurt, police said. Gunshots rang out in northeast Las Vegas just before 2 p.m., Officer Bill Cassell said.

Six young people were transported to area hospitals. Four had minor gunshot injuries and two were in critical condition, Cassell said.

At least two people are believed to have taken part in the shootings, he said. Police were not saying whether the shooting suspects were on foot or in a vehicle.

The school bus had left from Mojave High School earlier, said Clark County School District spokesman Michael Rodriguez. The school was expected to open Wednesday with extra security measures and support services, he said.

The shooting occurred less than a mile from two elementary schools, Woolley and Clyde Cox Elementary Schools. Rodriguez said both were locked down temporarily but were reopened before 3 p.m.

Thankfully there doesn't appear to be any fatalities, and not much real information in the story.

I feel that there is plenty wrong with this country, but there is plenty right with it also. One thing that really frosts my cookies is that a suspects rights are more important than a victims rights. How backasswards is that?

Mass media playing up the shooters in these types of cases doesn't help either. There are plenty of punks out there who want their 15 minutes, dead or alive.

This happened a few mins from my home. My guess is gang related. Another prediction, LVMPD/NLVPD will have suspects in custody with in 24-72 hours.

What's the possibility that first person shooter games are the contributing cause to these incidents? Kids and teens don't play Asteroids and Space Invaders anymore. Now it's Call of Duty 4.

People have been killing each other since Cain and Abel or whatever starting point you want to use. I don't see any thing that is going to make it stop any time soon. There is no single explanation for these types of things. We can attempt to blame it on parents, schools, prison systems, or lack there of, but there is no single or group of factors that I know of that explains what causes people to do such inexcusable things. We have the highest incarceration rate in the world, but amazingly we still rate towards the top of the list for crimes. This is something that we will probably never understand.

The only thing I can say for sure is that it is a tradgedy for the victims and their families of these types of senseless crimes, and I hope that I never have to experience the tradgedy myself.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

    +1

One more (of many) reasons for 'school vouchers'.
It failed by only 1 vote last year in the state legislature here in Florida.
Hopefully it will pass this year.
