    Another Home Invasion/Robbery

Five charged in armed home invasion robbery

ACCORD (New York) — State police charged five suspects in a Sunday night home invasion robbery at the Evergreen Apartments on Mettachahonts Road.

Police said three of the suspects forced their way into the apartment around 11 p.m., wearing masks and armed with a pellet pistol, a baseball bat and a sledgehammer. They pistol-whipped one of the tenants and also struck a pregnant female. Three other people in the apartment were not attacked.

The suspects then fled with an unspecified amount of proceeds, police said. Two other suspects acted as lookouts outside the apartment.

Police charged all five suspects with first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary, both felonies. They are Lucas C. Renfrow, 22, of Kingston Avenue, Wurtsboro; Luis A. Santiago, 19, of Route 209, Kerhonkson; Stacie M. Armbruster, 17, of Center Street, Ellenville; Alexander A. Padilla, 20, of Route 42 North, Woodbourne; and Luis A. Torres, 17, of Church Street, Ellenville.

They were arraigned and sent to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond, pending further proceedings in Town of Rochester Court.

Village of Ellenville police and the Ulster County Sheriff's Office assisted state police in the investigation.

I'm kind of curious as to how they got in. Did they kick the door in or did someone open the door?

I think the PRNY needs to outlaw baseball bats and sledgehammers. Those fine young outstanding citizens will be out of the poke soon enough to continue their careers.

If 5 dirt bags invade my home, there will be a need for 5 body bags.

I second that notion. Too bad this acticle didn't end with "The homeowner opened fire on the intruders with his 12 gauge pump. All 5 were found dead at the scene".

To be honest I was waiting for it. It was a disappointment that it didnt happen.

I hope they try all 5 as adults, and I hope they all get lengthy prison sentences. They need some behavior modification, and they need to be off the streets as well.

Put them in prison and let them understand what assault is all about.

    How did they get caught?
I haven’t heard any of the journalists who volunteered to be waterboarded asking to have their fingernails wrenched out with pliers, or electrodes attached to their genitals.

Of course, the real outlawing, jailing and fining should be directed at those crooks who have taken self-defense away from upstanding citizens. But then, that's prechin' to the choir.

Am I the only one who finds it strange there was no assualt charges filed, since they "pistol whipped" several of the occupants of the apartment, espeically a pregnant woman. The charges should be ammended to include assult with a deadly weapon and attempted murder!

These young adults are sure getting brave...with a pellet gun and sledgehammer? Too bad the owner couldn't have greeted them all with a REAL lead pusher...
Hope these thugs get a real education in prison about 'personal invasions'...

    Stay armed...even at home...stay safe!
