This woman is on the phone with 911 trying to get help as someone breaks into her "upscale" home in CA. She gets shot and killed while on the phone with the dispatcher. One of the MANY reasons why I have a firearm at my side 24 hours a day unless I am on duty. There was a "hot" home invasion 2 blocks from my house 2 days ago but the woman at home was not raped, killed, or injured. Then I read this tonight and it all just reaffirms my position of NEVER becoming a victim. NEVER.

This is a conversation I keep having with my anti-gun wife, use the gun then call 911. I'd rather have the police and emergency unit there to try to resuscitate the BG than mark a chalk line around her body.

    abrb,

If your wife is gun capable then I'd suggest to her to dial 911 as an offensive maneuver as she might get lucky with a patrol car being just around the corner.
At the _same time_ advise her Annie get yer gun and keep it in hand at the ready while attempting to evade the BG (do not engage) and escape your home by any means possible with the gun and phone both in hand.
Report to 911 where she has escaped to (e.g. neighbors house or backyard) and state she is armed and relay whatever visual information she can toward observance of her own home with Deebo in it.

Products and monies inside your home are insured and can very easily be replaced.
The human life of your wife, less so much.

sad story that could have turned out so differently.

I wonder why they are not going to release the 911 tapes until after the trial (of the suspect who doesn't yet exist)? Maybe they don't want the neighbors to really be afraid about how long it can take an emergency response to arrive.

That is very sad & disappointing. The craziest thing is that the reaction in California will be to try harder to ban guns, instead of arming the law-abiding people of CA.

What can one say that isn't preaching to the choir here.

Tragedy upon tragedy abounds all over this world just about every moment of every day.

For the life of me I can not fathom the sheep mentality of those who would not lift a finger or gun to defend themselves. There are some who even would just stand there in disbelief and get slaughtered without even a struggle.

For the life of me, I can't figure out what makes people like that tic.
