Bowling Green Resident Fatally Shoots Alleged 15-Year-Old Burglar
Police are investigating a burglary report in Bowling Green that led to the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy.
Police say a homeowner called them on April 3 to say he had just shot a person who was breaking into his house.
The juvenile victim has not been identified.
His body was sent to Louisville for an autopsy.
"The homeowner confronted the burglar coming in the back door, according to his statements, and then shot the person, and that person is now deceased," said Officer Barry Pruitt, of the Bowling Green Police.
Police have not named the homeowner, who told a 911 operator around 5:15 p.m. that he was asleep when he heard someone trying to break into his house.
The man said he shot the burglar.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.
We will have more information on this shooting as it becomes available.
15 y/o and breaking into houses. WTH isn't this kid playing high school baseball or soccer or some other activity? Hopefully the kid didn't have a scumbag parent that put him up to it to feed a habit.

Why the autopsy? It is obvious he died from lead poisoning. I think the homeowner did a good job, I just hope he does not let it get him down that the boy was so young.
B.T.W. A little off topic. CT-Mike, are you a reporter or something? You post a lot of good personal defense stories from all over the place.

Nope, I work in operations at a nuke plant after spending 20 years pushing submarines through the water. I just find these types of stories interesting, as they help me to learn when a shoot is justified & warranted, and when it is not. I post them so that others may learn also.

Count me with the 'odd fellows'...but any teen breaking into my house is going to be credited with doing the work of a man...thus the pay will be the same...no apologies...
I'm not about to ask for ID and a birth certificate as he's kicking in the back door...

Breaking the plane of the door to enter a house uninvited is justified cause, sorry the lesson had to be taught to such a young intruder.
