I had to do a little search, and this was reported by news from Springfield Missouri.

I'd like to hear the 911 tapes.

I agree too, it is a pro-carry news report, and refreshing to hear it presented like that.

    Very Good For Concealed Carry

This lady and her comments about not becoming a victim have summed up perhaps why most of us carry. That type of positive press is worth a bunch to protect our 2A rights.

Will wonders never cease - I fully expected the news people to extoll the virtues of B&E and the horrible lady with a dangerous gun.

Congrats to this 50+ year old woman...glad things worked out for this tough gal...
I'm not sure that she should have walked all through the house on her own, but she sure sounded sure of herself.

I still feel it's dangerous to hold the BG at gunpoint. One moment of inattention and he could get the drop on you. At a minimum I'd make him lie on the ground like a felony stop. Any non-compliance and well, MO "is" a castle doctrine State!

Very nice story, and refreshingly pro-carry.

they talked about holding a BG at gunpoint in the home in my class, and it was to do just that, spread eagle with nose in the floor, loud voice yelling at him and if there is any sudden movements, well, thats threat and intent...

    Sweet, another happy ending.
Gun control can be blamed in part for allowing 9/11 to happen.

Okay people heres a big no no,she went in the house noticed something wasn't right got her cell phone and gun and went back in the house, she should of called 911 from outside,if the BG was waiting behind the door when she went back in with her gun in her pocket it could of ended a lot different,or had their been 2 or 3 bg's and her attention is on one she could get attacked by the others and disarmed.Even if you know how to clear a house,it's not recommended you do it alone.

    J-Frame to the Rescue !!!

The only thing I'd reconsider on is remaining on the phone with 911.

Conventional wisdom says to call 911 immediately, report an intruder, request police, and hang up fast. You hang up fast because you don't have the leisure to chat on the phone during an attack.

Reason: After the fact and in court, the 911 call will be used against you by the prosecutors - who will say they could hear the perp begging for mercy or whatever else - basically a prolonged 911 call makes you more likely to be painted as the aggressor. Just my .02 for the little that it's worth.

Great news piece ... I'll be emailing it to friends.

Good for her, and an excellent job by the media!

I do admit, I'd rather that she had stayed outside and immediately called the police once she determined that the house had been broken into. Clearing a house on your own is extremely dangerous. It could have been ugly.....
