Homicide Treated As Self-Defense - :: LOCAL 12 :: WKRC-TV Cincinnati
A good story with a good ending.Police tell Local 12 they are treating a homicide in North Fairmount as a case of self-defense.
Desmond Chappell, 27, was shot at a home on Saffer Street Friday night.
A woman identifying herself as Chappell's sister-in-law called 911, saying he was not welcome at his apartment.
Fighting could be heard in the background, followed by gunshots and children screaming.
A downstairs neighbor heard the commotion, and rushed to the apartment to help.
"His children were in his face," said Derrick Owens, Chappell's neighbor. "Talking about, 'daddy, daddy, wake up, wake up.' So I had to take the kids out of there because I didn't want them to look at his blood."
Police did question a man they believe to be the shooter, but no charges have been filed.
It's not clear what led to Friday's confrontation.
Chappell's wife declined Local 12's request Monday for an interview.
