WTNH.com, Connecticut News and Weather - Man claims he accidentally shot his girlfriend
Coventry (WTNH) _ A 43-year old Coventry man is being held on a $1.25 million bond after police say he shot his pregnant girlfriend and then was involved in a standoff with police.
Alfredo Ferrer is charged with attempt to commit murder, assault and reckless endangerment. He appeared before a Rockville Superior Court judge Tuesday morning.
Ferrer told police that he only meant to hit 27-year-old Amanda Realie with the gun, but she swung at it and it went off.
Realie was shot in the face and is in Hartford Hospital in critical condition. She was shot in front of their two children.
Following the shooting, a bloody Ferrer made his way to the Bidwell Tavern where he walked into the restaurant with his children and a gun. He tried to use the phone and the terrified patrons were escorted to the basement for safety.
Police were called to the restaurant where they found Ferrer outside in the parking lot with his two year old son in his arms, threatening to kill himself. Officers used a Taser gun to subdue Ferrer after he finally agreed to drop his gun. The child was not harmed.
Ferrer later told police that he and Realie were arguing over her heroin use and his history as a sex offender.
Ferrer is listed on the CT Sex Offender Registry after he was convicted in 1989 for the sexual assault of a minor. He escaped from prison in 1991 and was a fugitive until 2002 when he was busted in New York for marijuana possession.
Served 2 years or less on the sexual assault before escaping, then was caught 9 years later on a marijuana charge. Isn't prison break a crime in and of itself? I would've thought that with the escape, the remaining time on the sex charge, and the marijuana charge he should still have been in prison. Oh wait, that is just me thinking, not the bleeding heart liberals who run this state.

I can't help myself, so here goes: "It's not his fault! He was obviously abused/assaulted/teased/laughed at/called names/whatever, and thats what drove him to be bad. All he needs is a little time with a head shrinker and he'll be good as new!". At least I'm assuming thats what was said during his parole board.
As far as the charges go, shouldn't it be: attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and X counts of reckless endangerment. X = wife, unborn child, two current children, every person in the tavern, every person that he came near on his way to the tavern, and all of the police officers that had to deal with him.

Update here:
WTNH.com, Connecticut News and Weather - Shooting victim dies
Hartford (WTNH) _ A pregnant Coventry woman who police say was shot by her boyfriend Monday night, has died at Hartford Hospital.
Doctors were not able to save 27-year old Amanda Realie's unborn child.
According to police, 43-year old Alfredo Ferrer shot Realie in front of their two other children following an argument. After the shooting, Ferrer made his way to the Bidwell Tavern with his two young children where he was involved in a standoff with police.
Ferrer has already been charged with attempted murder, assault and reckless endangerment. State police say now that Realie has died, charges will likely be upgraded at his court appearance next week.
Ferrer later told police that he and Realie were arguing over her heroin use and his history as a sex offender. He says the gun accidentially went off.
Ferrer is listed on the CT Sex Offender Registry after he was convicted in 1989 for the sexual assault of a minor. He escaped from prison in 1991 and was a fugitive until 2002 when he was busted in New York for marijuana possession.
He is being held on a $1.25 million bond.
Hopefully this scumbag will get charged with two murders and will die in a prison in a relatively short period of time (don't want to cost the taxpayers too much).

Felon with a firearm - what do you bet he will not be charges for that?

If I had a nickel for every time me and the wife argued about her heroin use and my record as a child molester, I'd...
That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?
