TAMPA Doctors say its amazing that a 41-year-old Tampa-area woman survived after someone shot her right between the eyes while she was riding in her boyfriends pickup truck.
Doctors think she was hit with a .44-caliber bullet that broke in two pieces, each traveling under her skin and exiting behind her ears last weekend. She was released from the hospital hours later with just stitches.
The woman says two cars started following their truck Saturday night and the occupants began yelling at them.
At a traffic light, someone in one of the cars stood up in the sunroof and started shooting back at the truck.
Part of the bullet that hit the woman exited her head, went through the back window of the truck and hit a Jeep driving behind it.
Police are still looking for the shooter.

I think she already won the lottery. God was watching out for this one.
WOW!! If a .44 will bounce off your head, I may have to rethink my caliber choice! Anyone selling a .500?

Holy cow!! I didnt even know that was possiable!! THat just shows that someone does watch over us!
She must have one tough Neanderthal forehead.
It must have been a very angled and glancing hit.
Her lucky day ...if you can call getting hit anywhere with a .44 Mag or Special in any way lucky.
Docs think it was a .44? This is based on an wound? I don't think so. I highly doubt they could differentiate the difference between anything from a .40-.45.
Amazing story, still, but when it comes to guns, bullets, and ballistics, amazing stories happen on a regular basis.

That is one lucky woman whatever caliber it was.
wow she got lucky and really hope that they find the shooter

This truly destroys the one shot stop myth I would say. Even getting shot in the head won't always do it.

It went through the windshield which must of slowed it enough that upon striking her skull split in 2 pieces then each piece circled her skull exiting behind her ears,I've heard of a .357 round striking a guy in the head penetrating the skull into the brain and the guy lived. This is one lucky lady.I know a woman personally that was struck in the head from a ricocheting 44 magnum round as they were leaving a concert in Salina Ks.it hit her just above her brow line and today she has no taste or smell due to the injury, but she did survive it

They could get .44 off other recovered slugs. I also wonder if the bullet broke up on the windshield, making the hit survivable.
Very, very lucky woman.
