GOOD: Homeowner Turns The Tables - Mesa, AZ

Homeowner Shoots Burglar - Local News Story - KPHO Phoenix

MESA, Ariz. -- An early-morning break-in turned fatal when the homeowner shot the intruder, Mesa police said.

The homeowner, his wife and another person woke to the sound of someone breaking into their home shortly after 2:15 a.m., police said.

The wife ran to a closet to call 911 while her husband confronted the armed intruder.

Police said the husband struggled with the intruder and shot the burglar with his own gun.

Rescue crews pronounced the burglar dead at the scene.

Police said a second would-be intruder was waiting outside the home and was arrested.

Investigators said the incident may be drug-related.
Good on the homeowner, but confronting an armed intruder without a weapon of your own is risky business. Glad the right guy is on the wrong side of the dirt.

I was thinking that myself. I don't know what I would have done in that situation without a weapon. Glad everything turned out o.k. though.

Obviously, the homeowner should have brought a gun to the gunfight, but it still worked out pretty well for both the homeowner and the dirtrbag...
This homeowner deserves a bit 'THANKS' for saving taxpayer $$$

Now days it pays to carry 24/7, you aren't even safe in your own home anymore. Happy the HO and others came out unscathed.

Moral of the story: situational awareness is a good thing. Or, it can be, if you leave your "radar" turned on and pay attention.

I wonder what the lookout guy was thinking when he heard the gunshot(s).

The homeowner is lucky to be alive.
That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?
