Why Mag disconnects are bad on CC guns

    From LA Times 4/17/08:
    ...
The officer was struck with the bat as he walked out of his office and fell backward in a daze, Dyer said.

As the officer tried to draw his firearm, the weapon's magazine clattered to the floor, Dyer said.

The student with the bat approached the officer again, the chief said, prompting the officer to reach for a second firearm attached to his ankle.

Glad he had a bug, lucky none the less. Defiantly staying away from magazine disconnects in my carry guns.

This story has already been posted, on the day it occurred.

As to mag disconnects had he been dazed enough that the BG could've taken his primary and disarmed him, that mag disconnect would have saved him from being shot with his own weapon. It's far easier for a downed officer to retain a magazine than it is to fight for and retain the pistol.
Meanwhile being the wise officer he was he had a BUG and employed it, again wisely.
