Cops: Deputy Shoots, Kills Man With Knives at California Court
MERCED, Calif. — A sheriff's deputy has fatally shot a man who stormed through security at a northern California county courthouse carrying two large butcher knives.
District Attorney Larry Morse II says guards chased the man as he ran down the hallway on Monday afternoon carrying the knives and entered a courtroom holding them above his head.
Witnesses say the Merced County sheriff's deputy shot him shortly after he charged through the courtroom doors. No other injuries were immediately reported.
The courthouse remains on lockdown. A public defender says he recognized the shooter as a previous client with a history of mental illness.
Great job by the Deputy.

Strange. Incident is over. Suspect was identified. Yet, the entire courthouse facility remains "locked down." Fearful of copycats, no doubt.

probably locked down until investigation completed - wouldn't want the BG's family to say he was murdered and that it was not properly investigated...
they will also be looking into what went wrong at the security checkpoint and how to "fix" it (my Dad is responsible for Courtroom Security in his job)

Great job by the deputy but:
A public defender says he recognized the
shooter as a previous client with a history of mental illness.
Just how was he going to shoot the knives? Another one of those subliminal media deals where it gets blamed on firearms.

This BG had a history of 'mental illness'? I guess the deputy took care of that problem...

Knive shooters. Certainly that is against the law in California! Why did this happen?

Technically this reporter just said that the public defender recognized the deputy as a previous client with a history of mental illness.
No matter how you read this, it's awfully ridiculous.
