This is another classic case of where the company insists that you let the perps kill / rape people and not get involved, because if you try to stop the attack the company might get sued by the injured perp.
BTW - note the title of the story - the employee didn't "Attack" anyone - he DEFENDED someone.

I voiced my displeasure...
TWIMC,
This correspondence is in reference to your treatment of Mark Beverly, who was an employee of yours in the Roseville Super America.
Marks selfless act of defending a coworker that was being attacked by a criminal is something to be admired rather than criticized. He should have been commended on his bravery. Had Mark stayed hidden and cowered in the bathroom, as you would have liked him to do, his coworker could have been beaten, raped or even murdered. This seems to be of little importance to you though as evidenced by your requirement that your employees submit to the whims and desires of criminals who would rob and assault them.
In my opinion, your policy that prohibits your employees from defending themselves is a violation of their basic human rights. To put it simply, it disgusts me that you hold the safety and welfare of your employees with such little regard. As for your 'Robbery Prevention Packet' goes, I think it's a joke. You don't seem to realize that criminals couldn't care less for the safety or concerns of their victims, just as they don't care about laws. That's why they are called 'Bad Guys'.
Although I only speak for myself and my family, I would like to inform you that I will never again set foot in any of your stores unless I have heard that your policies have been changed and that you allow your employees to defend themselves and others should they so choose.
Sincerly,
xxx xxxxx
