I wouldn't of opened the door and in this case called 911 if he would of kicked my door in different scenario and it becomes self defense

I've never said do not call 911 I've always said don't rely on 911 to save you,in this case the guy was on outside of locked door with no immediate threat had he forced his way into my home then he seals his fate

    did JT have a phone?

the "coup de grace" is problematic at best

    poor decision on his part

is this a trailer court shooting? In which case if you are beating on the door you are a threat if you are armed in any way... too bad that JT is going to be remaining in jail - too bad the kid had to learn his lesson permanently

All we know is that a second shot was fired. We, here, don't know if the alleged attacker was attempting (and capable of) getting up and continuing the fight. We don't know if he was formally put down by that first round, or whether the second was actually necessary. Without more information, all we can do is surmise that "it doesn't look good" to have a second round fired. But keep in mind that our lesser pistols are even worse stoppers, often requiring many more shots. Does that mean, by definition, that anything more than one or two is criminal, necessitating a verdict of guilty just based on that?

Point is: it's hard to know for certain, without knowing what was seen and known by the person doing the alleged defending at the time it was done.

A "coup de grace" would be problematic, for all the obvious reasons. Based on what I've read of the case, I don't see factual proof that the second shot was definitively that. Then again, I have not seen all the evidence, the parts that would define that second shot in terms of its actual urgency at the time.
