Somebody really wanted Brandon Betts dead.

The 24-year-old Model City man was peppered with multiple times as he walked out of a hip-hop night at the Captain Crab's restaurant, 1100 NE 79th St., about 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police have no description of the killer or killers, but not for lack of trying. The homicide bureau has not received one tip, said Miami Detective Ervens Ford said.

Anyone with information can call Miami homicide unit at 305-579-6530 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.

Brandon Betts, 24, was shot nearly two dozen times.

Sounds like it. Isn't Det. Ervens Ford one of those featured on "The First 48"?

    A shooting at a hip-hop show? That's UNPOSSIBLE!
That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?

    Detective Ervens Ford

After graduating high school and spending four years in the U.S. military, Detective Ervens Ford joined the Miami Police Department as soon as his service was complete. With more than seven years as a homicide detective under his belt, Ford says: "few people are willing to make that kind of commitment. Getting calling at 2, 3 o'clock in the morning, sacrificing family time ... sacrificing personal time. Not ... very many people are willing to do that."

Even with all the sacrifices and middle of the night phone calls Ford states: "I love homicide. ... I got hit by the [homicide] bug."

I think it's tragic to be killed after getting the crabs
