Two men were shot to death Tuesday morning in the Northwest Miami-Dade neighborhood called Melrose.
Family members believed the dead were Freddy Dumenigo, 22, and uncle, Elias Aguilar, 74, a retired factory worker who had lived for decades in a pastel duplex, 2971 NW 30th St.
Miami-Dade uniformed patrolmen were dispatched to the house after neighbors reported hearing gunshots. They found the dead men inside.
Aguilar, who came to Miami in the 1980 Mariel boatlift, had retired from plant that manufactured car accessories.
''He hardly ever came out of the house,'' said sister Delia Aguilar, 82. ``Only to play dominoes at the house across the street.''
Dumenigo worked at McDonald's, his family said. The 22-year-old had twice been arrested on drug charges. In both cases, he agreed to pay a fine and received a withhold of adjudication, meaning no felony conviction appeared on his record.
