GOOD: No Charges Against Man Who Shot Intruder - Truman, MN

KEYC Television, Mankato, MN - The One To Watch

Authorities say no charges will be filed against a Truman man who shot an intruder in his parents' home. Mark Sauk arrived at the home Tuesday night to find his mother being attacked by a man police identify as 30 year old Douglas Bennett. Police say Sauk struck the intruder with his handgun, and when that didn't work, fired two times, striking him once in the leg. Authorities tell News 12 that a review with the county attorney found that Sauk's actions were justified. Both Marcella Sauk and Douglas Bennett are both currently at St. Mary's hospital in Rochester.

Fired twice? And only hit him once in the leg? Sounds like he should have kept pistol whipping him...

Oh, well, alls well that ends well.

No messing with a man's Momma!

Hope she's OK and Mr. Doug Bennett finds his 'soul-mate' in the Big House!

sounds like a difficult shot if the attacker was still attacking the mother. Maybe that explains the miss. Or it was a warning shot that was turned into a "miss" based on a lawyers recommendation.

I guess if mommas in the way pistol whip first after acquiring BG's attention then shoot him so he can't run off very well,A leg shot may of been the only safe shot available. We practice to shoot COM but what if that shot isn't feasible then I guess you shoot what is available like an ankle or foot,I don't care who you are that's gotta hurt and a hit in the femur artery can kill pretty quick

If my mother had been "in the way" I'd've moved up close and put one into his cranium. Any scumbag that attacks my mother is in for a good dose of "ventilation".

Great news. The local media (Minneapolis area) have been strangely quiet on this story.....I wonder why?
