Suspect robs security guard with fake gun -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

Deputies said a female security guard was held at gunpoint with a fake gun this morning just feet from her east Orange County job.

Orange County sheriff's deputies said the woman had just arrived at her job at Quadrangle and Corporate boulevards at midnight when an armed man ran up to her, pointing his gun at her face.

The suspect snatched her purse and ran inside a car that was occupied by two other suspects. The suspects took off, but the robber dropped his gun, which deputies said was a silver-colored fake pistol.

"It's a plastic replica of a gun and even deputies find it hard to tell the difference between the two," Cmdr. Paul "Spike" Hopkins said.
