This is a discussion on Joe Horn Cleared by TX Grand Jury within the In the News: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly forums, part of the The Back Porch category; Joe Horn cleared by grand jury in Pasadena shootings | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle...
God bless Texas!
But boy howdy, that one could have gone either way......
I think this is more important then DC vs. Heller. Its a very specific case that challenged the "rules of engagements" put forward by many state laws. Sure, it will not have the legal weight as a supreme court decision. But it is a big (good!) signal.
I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend. (Thomas Jefferson)
Congratulations Mr. Horn.

I think It's a great decision but I personally would not want to test my DA under the same scenario,The downside is his life has been threatened by the scumbags friends and cohorts so he may have to relocate to try to offset the chance he may be ambushed and killed for revenge.I love the defense laws in Texas, where some states would rather see you get killed so the police can do an investigation and maybe lock up your killer Texas seems to give out awards for ridding scum from our streets
"Outside of the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the country,"
--Mayor Marion Barry, Washington , DC .
Isn't this the way it should be in all 50 states?
Ya' gotta' love TX!
The taking of a life is not something to be taken lightly, but what else are we to do with dirtbags wandering all over our land (U.S.), laughing at the 'injustice system', and continuing in their destruction of hard-earned property and valuable life?
I'm glad Mr. Horn was concerned enough to be watchful in his neighborhood. We need more 'neighborhood watch programs' like his!
As always, OMO, YMV!
Stay armed...be watchful...stay safe!
"That I cannot do."
"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."

Justice, oh sweet Justice!
Jeez, I love livin' in Texas.
There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil.

Who is John Galt?
As the scorer says after a shooter breaks both targets in doubles trap: "Dead a Pair!".
An armed populace are called citizens.
An unarmed populace are called subjects.
God bless Texas. I don't know if I would have had the courage to do what he did. But you never know what you'll do when under stress.

Glad he was no-billed.
There are many negative comments from readers that only know what the media reported but more comments from people that praised him. The naysayers must realize that one cannot determine guilt or innocence based on the inflammatory headline grabbing stories of the media.
Yoda, I am, yes.
Just read the story, and I found something very interesting. These 2 knuckleheads were illegals from Columbia and 1 had already been pinched for drugs and deported.
Man, I love this state. Not that I am condoning vigilante justice or harming illegals or anything like that. But this goes to show not only do we need to defend ourselves from home grown threats but also to the percentage of illegals that don't come here to "do the jobs Americans won't do."

A Texas man who shot and killed two men he believed to be burglarizing his neighbor's home won't be going to trial. A grand jury today failed to indict Joe Horn, a 61-year-old.....
Wow, I thought he was gonna see some time.
