EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) - A woman shot and killed her husband at their home outside of El Dorado, and the Union County sheriff says the slaying was in self-defense.

Sheriff Ken Jones said the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, when deputies found 47 year-old Roger Gates dead inside the home. Jones says 37 year-old Kimberly Gates told him that her husband had attacked her and that she was afraid for her life and her baby's. Officials say she was able to get away from her husband, get a gun from the bathroom, and shoot him.

Jones said the case is still under investigation and that the results will be given to a prosecutor, who will determine if charges should be filed.

I used to keep a Rugar 1022 in my water closet. Perfect angle to sit on the crapper with the barrel resting on the window sill and blast pigeons off the silo. The pigeons got too smart and would fly away when I came out of the house. This way I was able to take care of business while taken-care-o-bidness.

Arkansas has statues that deal specifically with the use of deadly force in abusive relationship's. If she has any kind of history of prior abuse with her dead husband, she'll probably get off the hook...IF it is as it seems.

And to get back on topic, I hope she doesn't have a DA that wants to push the question about why she didn't just leave him. My thoughts go back to the video link posted here in the last day or two about why even innocent people should never talk to the police.
