Good: Attempted Armed Robbery Tacoma, WA
At approx. 10:30 pm Sunday night, my partner and I were patrolling south on Commerce St and saw a male laying on his back in front of a small convience store on the corner of 9th and Commerce St. As we approached the male a TPD officer came on seen, cuffed the male, and began searching him. The officer found a pistol, what appeared to be a small 1911. TPD patrol officers continued to show up as we learned that the male had brandished the pistol and robbed the store. My partner and I were about 4min. late for the robbery.
Apparently a very large and built male had heard the robber demanding money and waited outside the door. When the suspect ran out the door he was cold clocked. Nocked out! He was transported by ambulance for is injuries.
Nobody at the scene at the time of the incident was armed, including my partner and I. It just got us thinking of how things would have turned out differant if we had been a few minutes ahead. We both have CPL's but can't carry at work. We came to the conclusion that you never know when the BG will show his ugly face.
Some more food for thought: The pistol turned out to be a CO2 pellet gun.

That sounds like it was a few minutes behind 'attempted'.
Let's hear it for Mohamed Ali...
Stay armed...use all your weapons...stay safe!

.....Private security? If so, and you are working unarmed private security patrol in Tacoma, you should consider another line of work. Tacoma is not the place to be doing that. I hope you are armed with something. Stay safe out there.

I gotta agree with the above. My sister-in-law was carjacked, beaten, and gang-raped in broad daylight in Tacoma. It is not a nice place anymore.

Its really not too bad in the downtown area. I did 5 years armed security in L.A. and don't feel Tacoma is quite as bad. I do have OC and my partner is a Marine war vet, so Im not completly defenseless.

Ya never know when you'll need to defend yourself, always carry and give yourself a fightin chance.
I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop and I'm all out of doughnuts.

LOL!! I would love to CCW while at work
.....my supervisors don't mind when I have a pistol on me. But the prob is here in WA I could possibly face criminal charges for carring a weapon as a security officer on a unarmed possition
.
I could go armed with the company but the position I currently have pays more than the armed supervisors make. Plus I get to ride a police Trek mountain bike!
