Metro Investigating Possible Random Shooting

Police are looking for a shooter who remains at large. More concerning though is that the victim in the shooting may have been a random target.
Those who knew the victim are condemning the violent act. The victim was shot after leaving a Circle K Monday morning morning, August 25.
Police are not sure if the shooter was driving by or if they were on foot, but they are hoping someone saw something. The busy intersection of Sahara and Nellis is now the cornerstone of a mystery -- one that has left a man fighting for his life after being shot early Monday morning.
"There were two Metro cops right here on the corner here when I was coming home and that was around midnight," said Katherine Searcy.
Video from surveillance cameras at the Circle K are the last images of the man. Employees saw him leave the store after midnight. A half hour later, police were called to the intersection of Sahara and Nellis for a gunshot victim.
"He was walking on the sidewalk when he received a gunshot wound to the head," said Metro Officer Jose Montoya.
Police believe someone near the intersection must have seen something, but no one ever reported hearing gunshots or even an argument and no one knows of any enemies the man had.
Detectives worry the shooting may have been completely random and the victim was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"Our detectives in violent crimes don't have any leads. They don't have a motive or anything that leads them to believe that he was specifically targeted. It appears, at this point, that it could have been random," said Montoya.
For those who work and live in the area, the possibility of another shooting is now always their minds.
"Anywhere it can happen, not only just around here, but anywhere. So yeah, it's pretty scary," said Searcy.
Officers are keeping a close watch on the area, in case the shooter tries to kill again. They say information is what they really need to make sure this does not happen to someone else.
Police have released only a few details about the victim. We know that he is an African American man in his mid-30's. Doctors have not been able to remove the bullet for fear it may only do more damage.
