Police: Shopper shoots teen outside Wal-Mart during alleged robbery

Initial SA may not have been good. But he shot under the car door. Good on him.

Walmart parking lot late at night. Not good.

All in all, hats off to the the LTCF holder. I hope he quickly recovers from the traumatic experience.

Again, I would say this is going to be a thug gang-banger coming in from NYC or NJ where they are used to their prey not having self defense arms.

A shopper licensed to carry a firearm shot and wounded a 17-year-old boy who allegedly tried to rob him at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart store in East Stroudsburg early this morning.

Stroud Area Regional Police Department said the shopper, Joshua Eastman, 28, of East Stroudsburg, and the 17-year-old each fired several shots from their weapons during the 12:45 a.m. shootout.

Eastman, who not struck with a bullet, fired three bullets into the boy's legs, police said.

His injuries are not considered life-threatening and he is being treated at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg while in police custody.

According to police, the confrontation happened after Eastman finished shopping.

They said the boy allegedly approached with a handgun while Eastman was seated in his car with the driver's side door ajar.

Eastman told police the boy fired at him first through the driver's side window while he was reaching for his wallet, which he had purposely dropped on the ground of the parking lot with the hope another customer would see the robbery in progress.

"He said he was hoping if there was some delay tactics that someone would notice what was going on and might alert authorities," Capt. William Parrish said. "He was actually injured with the glass from the driver's side door, but he was not struck with the bullet. After he dropped to the ground, he shot the 17-year-old in the legs under the car door."

Parrish said the boy fired several shots into the car door in an attempt to hit Eastman. After the exchange of gunfire, Eastman ran toward the store and the boy tried to hide in a landscaped area in the parking lot.

Parrish said an ambulance arrived first on scene, but police also arrived within minutes.

The boy, who is from East Stroudsburg, is expected to be arraigned on charges of attempted homicide, robbery and several other charges, Parrish said.

If the boy is admitted for an extended period, his arraignment could be held in the hospital, Parrish said. He will remain under guard while hospitalized.

Parrish said both weapons have been recovered but the evidence is still being processed to determine how many shots were fired.

another comment. Sounds like the victim was fired upon while in the process of providing his wallet to the attacker. Hmmm, I bet if that attacker kept up a successful run, he would use his same MO (kill without provocation as soon as the money is seen (to silence witnesses)) once he started robbing banks.

And another thought. The attacker was 17 years old.

Interesting. Wal Mart parking lots make the news again! Well....a gun battle huh? Don't hear that very often. So.....the wallet was bait? Where did this come from? Sounds like some good tactics though....shooting from behind cover. We'll see how this one pans out.

The victim must have been using a small caliber weapon. Hitting the teenager in the legs 3 times and he was able to make it far enough to hid. I know at the Walmart were I live the weirdos are out about that time. I avoid Walmart like the plague after 11 pm.

Let's see....12:45 (0045), 17 year old with a gun, found hiding in the bushes.......& they still use the word 'ALLEGED"?!?!?

Just the way the headline is written tells me a lot about the reporter........

Well....thing is, even though freedom of the press exists...the reporters and the newspaper are under the same standards most of us are. They are actually subject to alot of lawsuits. Remember----no matter how things look----innocent until proven guilty. The apparent defender's information is matter of public record once he has made a statement to the authorities. Hence his name was mentioned in the report.

Sounds like Eastman kept his head together and when he was fired upon, Eastman employed tactics and took care of business. Bravo Zulu.

That Walmart has quite the rep on other PA gun forums. A few members have commented about groups of thugs wondering the store and parking lot all hours of the night. Bad MOJO at the WalMarts around the Pocono area. Heres a link to the thread over at PA Firearm Owners Association: Shooting/Robbery at Walmart in Monroe County?

That part of PA used to be really quiet and very much "small town USA", but not anymore since many people from the NYC area started moving in, plus many suspected illegals.

He has not been found guilty yet hence he is alleged whether we like it or not. The reporter or whoevere wrote the headline was correct in the use of it.

Well, now I know why everyone is doing their new CCW walk at Wally World; hoping for an "encounter".

One good piece of news here. A good buddy of mine who is an NRA member and a big hunter, but not a CCW'r or a handgun owner, was there last night and left about 15 minutes before the attack. I've been pestering him about getting a CCW and some training. I even offered him NRA training at cost. I sent the link to him and now he wants some tactical pisol training.

So, a piece of good news has come out of this.

I missed a gas station gun fight by about 15 minutes on the way to my CCW class. I drove right by the gas station 15 minutes before it went down.
That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?

A good friend walked to his car after being hit in the thigh with a .357 Mag semi-wadcutter.

I know a WCT PD officer hit with 2 9mm rounds in the thigh who did the same..and I've worked a banger who ran to his car and drove to the hospital with 3 .40 S&W slugs in the rear of his thighs and 1 in his arse. Caliber certainly isn't everything...
