    ExSoldier -

Keep posting, except maybe change your moniker to FormerSoldier. You clearly have your eyes and ears open and a good mindset.

The thoughts that run thru my mind as I read the article is that I wonder how long it would take for the reality to sink in that another human is being mortally attacked. At age 57 I am the perennial Boy Scout, holding doors for women and helping little old ladies with their grocery sacks. It shocks me to think that it might take two or three seconds to completely appreciate the fact that a passive person is being murderously attacked before I get involved. But, I would indeed get involved.

    Thanks for posting.

The BG was using deadly force, and in most states, it would be legal for you to return the force to end it. The passenger was defenseless. Any blow with a hammer could kill.

My fear is at close range, a JHP going through and hitting someone else.
    +1

I didn't go far enough in my initial post. I'm certain that I would have needed a gun to stop that assault.

You're absolutely right. This is one instance where you just do what you said.

An unarmed populace are called subjects.

What did you expect? It's Killadelphia.

The new Philadelphia Chief of Police Ramsay (from DC before this job) was recently quoted as saying something like "You can carry guns, but I don't like it, and if I had my way, nobody would have any guns"
"Naked and Starving as They are We Cannot Enough Admire the Incomparable Patience and Fidelity of the Soldiery" George Washington, Valley Forge, 1777.

I read a news story on CNN's website that says the police arrested the hammer attacker, at a mental health institution!
