OHP troopers arrest semi truck driver after they found marijuana in his truck

    Associated Press

EL RENO, Okla. (AP) -- An Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokesman says troopers found about 350 pounds of marijuana hidden in a cab of a tractor-trailer.

OHP Lt. George Brown says the driver of the tractor-trailer rammed a trooper's cruiser late Saturday on Interstate 40 near El Reno and led authorities on a short manhunt.

Brown says troopers arrested the driver, whom he identified as 45-year-old Rafeeq Mohamed of Queens Village, N.Y.

Brown says Mohamed ignored Trooper Derek Miller's instructions to step out of the cab and instead put his vehicle in reverse, ramming Miller's cruiser. Miller fired 16 shots at the rig, but Brown says no one was hit by gunfire.

Miller used his cruiser to chase Mohamed, who jumped out of the tractor-trailer and ran into nearby woods. Authorities used search dogs and a helicopter to locate Mohamed.

I don't know, I could see it being hard to hit someone in a vehicle like that when they are above you and have pretty substantial material between them and you. I doubt that the police really train how to off-aim in a situation like that to keep your bullets from deflecting upward and missing the target. Besides, they don't tell us what he shot at. Was he shooting at the driver or the tires and gas tanks?

It does illustrate that once the shooting starts it doesn't end until slide lock.

Why am I picturing a Trooper who is holding the pistol with both hands fully locked out and his head to the side with eyes closed just firing and slightly twisting at the waist?

Did he at least hit the trailer?

I certainly hope he was stopped in a farm area well away from homes.

Common guys...reading comprehension...it says "no one" was hit...nothing about hitting the rig...perhaps he shot the tires out. Any one here every shot up at a target...doubt he was standing on the floor board looking in the window.

Right. Between possibly trying to shoot tires or shooting at the cab (probably complete with a sleeper section, etc.), the trooper may have shot well, but nothing penetrated to hit the driver.

The OHP officer would most likely say that was 16 warning shots.

Sounds like a scene out of Reno 911. 350lbs of weed IN the cab huh? Amazing! At least no troopers were injured.

It was probably a slow speed chase. Wow man this dude with the lights is really on my tail, cool. Of course you have to image that with an arabic accent.

No innocent parties, and the leo was not injured, good. The BG is in jail and hopefully will stay there for a while. I have never tried to fire through a vehicle so I am not going to say anything about it.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.
