Good; Heroic Shopper Thanked
Heroic Shopper Thanked - FOX23 News
Thank you for your selfless act of bravery," said Tulsa Police Chief, Ron Palmer.
Applause for a man who stood his ground against an armed robber.
"To me, it was amazing," said Officer Brandon Davis.
Amazing because Craig Stutzman simply refused to let a thief get away with it.
Police say 38-year-old Tony Cleveland, a man with previous convictions for robbery and assault walked into a Food Pyramid store at 51st and Memorial wearing a batman mask and red bandana.
Armed with a handgun, he started ordering shoppers around.
"That's when he fired a shot," said Stutzman.
Cleveland tried to fire a second round, but his gun jammed.
Stutzman, a mechanic for American Airlines, only had a second to act, but he did, tackling the robber.
"Just reaction is what it was," said Stutzman.
More than reaction, police said it was courage, as stutzman held up the gunman until police arrived.
"I've never seen anything like this in my life," said Davis.
"Boy, this guy is gutsy," said Palmer.
Stutzman he risked his life, but he walked away with cuts and bruises, and a new reputation. As a hero!
As for Cleveland, records show he pleaded guilty last week to federal charges stemming from that incident plus two previous robberies.
Police presented Stutzman with the Citizen's Award. an honor very rarely handed out. Stutzman also received honors from his job, American Airlines.

Very nice.
Kudos to American Airlines for recognizing their guy too. Had he worked for Pizza Hut, he'd have likely been fired!

I remember seeing the fight part of the video just after it happened, interesting to see the first part. All those
, who outnumbered the BG, just walking with their backs to him where he told them to go.
Glad this man had it in him to stop it, and succeeded. Glad he got recognized for it too.

I LOVE IT!!! I'm just wondering what took so long for the other people to help. Chasing the robber is good, but now-a-days wouldn't the good guy be charged with battery since he wasn't acting in self-defence after the first attack? I know that if I was getting attacked like that (during the prevention of a forcible felony), I'd draw a knife (assuming I didn't have a gun, like this guy, but the bad guy did). But once the bad guy is running, I am then the aggressor. Unbelievable. I think that when someone does a crime, they get what's coming to them. Including getting chased down and beaten/stabbed/shot/run over.
Gun control can be blamed in part for allowing 9/11 to happen.

Only one old guy helped him and a younger looking guy helped at the very end.
It was a very gusty move on his part.

I was just wondering (could not tell from the video) -- whatever became of the bad guy's gun? You would think that would be the first thing the good guy dealt with, but I couldn't tell if it was knocked away or what. Also does anyone know if it was found to be a fake or a toy?
I'm just curious on the last point, because a lot of bad guys seem to use these, thinking (if they can be said to think) that no one will resist them.
Anyway, hurray for the hero!

"That's when he fired a shot," said Stutzman.
Cleveland tried to fire a second round, but his gun jammed.
That can only mean one thing: He was carrying a S&W Sigma or a High Point.
You must first learn the Hi Point Drill:
Single Shot: Fire weapon.
Semi-Auto: Fire weapon, then eject mag and throw at target.
Some experienced Hi Point users have noted that full-auto and 'shotgun' modes are also possible (with practice)
Full auto: Fire weapon, eject mag and throw, then throw jammed gun.
Shotgun: Fire weapon, then eject mag, remove rounds from mag, then throw jammed gun, empty mag, and unfired rounds all at the same time.
See - that way he could have gotten off what Hi Point users calls "A second shot".

Nice work by the mechanic...again, too bad he could not have just plugged the dirtbag.
It really irritates me that those two late arrivals didn't just jump in to help...those two could have made the wrestling match end much earlier.

I saw that story a while back and e-mailed American Airlines to thank them for having a great employee. If a few more did that maybe he'd get a little something from his employer. (like keeping his job in tight times).
