Good - Some Justice Was Served
Dollar Store Shooters Sentenced To Prison
Some justice was served, but as I read the story it appears that the perp can be out of jail when he's about 52 years old...what gives? He killed somebody, it was a cold blooded murder!

I have never understood this. Our most-heinous crimes and criminals, and yet the full weight of justice via the sentence is nearly never implemented. And we wonder why we get what we get.
The sentences will run concurrently.
They're headed for prison. They'll come out well-trained, which isn't so hot. But on the whole, I suppose it could be worse.

Most places in the country around large cities have the criminal justice system in near terminal systemic overload. They have so many vile perpetrators to deal with they literally don't know what to do. Specifically, everything you would want costs money -- that they just don't have. People want justice but they don't want to pay for it. This is the reason for running sentences concurrently, as well as for doing all types of plea bargaining; less burden on an already overburdened system.

Don Kates discusses this problem in some detail. Of course he is talking about how the promise of rational gun control (such as it is) is destroyed by the overburdened justice system, but it is all relevant.
Anti-gunners seem to believe that if we just pass enough laws, we can have utopia. Unfortunately, utopia is NOT one of our choices.
