Robber killed by homeowner!
MEMPHIS - Police in Collierville say a homeowner shot and killed one of several people who broke into his house over the weekend.
Police Lieutenant Greg Flint says homeowner Brian Harper was awakened by his burglar alarm early Saturday and fired at the intruders with a .45-caliber handgun, striking one of them. Flint says the others scattered and Harper doesn't know if the several other shots he fired hit anyone else.
Police say none of the home invaders fired a weapon, but investigators don't know if any of them had one.
Police identified the dead intruder from fingerprints and say he was 28-year-old Lakim Duffy.
His police record shows arrests since 1998 for violations including criminal trespass, especially aggravated robbery and cocaine possession.

I hope he does get ''done'' for that.
IIRC in TN he should be OK, whether they were armed or not - he could anyways I'd say, be able to honestly claim he was in fear of his life.

That could be a problem.

He should be fine, regardless of whether or not the BGs were armed.

This is where a 911 call , with you commanding em to stay out, I have a gun is really helpful.

Too late for that, they were already in and presenting a threat as I read it.

Huh ?? If multiple home invaders force their way into your home during the dark of night do you(should you)have to prove that they were armed before you can shoot them ??? For all our sakes.... hope not.

In TN we have the right to protect ourselves and our family and personal property. As long as the guy that was shot was not running away when he was shot the homeowner should not go to jail. He will probably just end up spending a boatload of money on legal counsel for civil suits. At least that's what I have always been told.

that was the really big part of the "Stand your Ground" law Florida just enacted. The homeowner, if they're right, can't be sued.
I love the Gunshine State.

Does anyone know if Texas has similar laws? I recall one state that I lived in growing up had something similar. Likely TX, as I lived there 14 years.
