Bingo hall shooter may not face charges

    ASSOCIATED PRESS • October 23, 2008

PENSACOLA — Investigators say a bingo hall manager who fatally shot an armed robber who entered his Pensacola hall likely will not face chargers.

Sheriff’s investigators say Alton Prewitt, 20, entered Beachside Bingo on Wednesday, fired a shotgun blast into the ceiling and demanded money.

Sheriff’s spokesman Glenn Austin said manager Chad England grabbed a handgun and fired in self-defense. Although criminal charges against England are unlikely, Assistant State Attorney John Molchan said he will review the Sheriff’s Office’s investigative reports.
Good for him! He defended himself, his business and presumably his customers.

Good thing they shot him before all those little old ladys pummeled him to death for interrupting their bingo game

If you are asking about civil litigation as a result of SD, yes we have protection against a BGs family taking civil legal action.

What a great Bingo story...kind of brings a tear to the eye.

Congrats......to a quick thinking bingo hall manager!

This dirtbag was having his grave stone purchase, processed long before his attempted bingo score...he deserved what he got.

    Stay armed...even playing bingo...stay safe!

The guy was shot twice. Once in the head, once in the chest.

I'd love to know what the manager aimed for a head shot or just got lucky. I'd also like to know where the 1st shot hit.

I'm guessing he aimed for head then shot one to the chest? Crazy story.

My friends wife actually plays Bingo at that very establishment. Fortunately she was not there at the time of the incident.
