Little Rock police are looking for John Jackson Junior, 33, wanted for first degree murder. Police say he shot a mother of three inside her home, her children called 911.
The victim's family says that Sonya Ratliff had a court order against her ex-boyfriend for three months. That protection was shattered Wednesday night when her 8-year old son called 911, telling the dispatcher his mom had been shot.
Korea Dismuke likes living on Holly Springs Road in southwest Little Rock.
"As far as around here, it's just so quiet but you never know what can happen though," Dismuke says.
Wednesday night he saw crime scene tape and officers fill the home two houses down. That's where Ratliff, 32, lived with her three children ages 12, 8, and 2.
Police say Ratliff's ex-boyfriend, John Jackson Jr, 33, kicked in the backdoor of the home in the 5200 block of Holly Springs Rd. He then shot and killed Ratliff with her children inside.
"They come over everyday and play with my kids," Dismuke says.
One of her children called 911. On Thursday, her sister didn't want to talk on camera but she says she is taking care of the children now while police look for Jackson.
Meanwhile, Dismuke tries to put his own kids at ease after a crime so close to home.
"They were scared, traumatized from it,” Dismuke says. “My little girl, she's still scared right now. It's a terrible thing you know. Kids don't have their mother. I don't know."
Police officers have not arrested Jackson who they say frequents Little Rock's southwest side and east end.
